The Mission was preceded in the village by a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, which stood at about TQ 638 483. This shows on old maps from the 1908 edition, but not on the earlier 1897/8. It appears to have still been in use in 1961, but is not named, though still standing, and so presumably no longer in use as a church, on the 1961/2 edition. It was demolished before the 1983 map.
