O.S. maps mark Site of Austin Friary in a field between Rutland Terrace and Austin Friars' Lane, at TF 0252 0689. 2023 Streetview. The Brethren's Meeting Room on Conduit Road was seen by Streetview in 2023. TF 0324 0744. Brownes Hospital Chapel on Broad Street. TF 0296 0726. © Steve Bulman (2024). Link. Grade II* listed. Old maps show an otherwise unidentified Chapel off Barnack Road at TF 0352 0686. Pre-dating a map of 1886, this source identifies it as the chapel for the adjacent Stamford Union Workhouse. Long demolished, its site stands behind the houses seen in a Streetview from 2023. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tinwell Road, as seen by Streetview in 2023. TF 0147 0662. Link. The site of Holy Trinity and St. Stephen's Church is shown on O.S. maps at TF 0344 0744. Part of Stamford School stands on the site today (2023 Streetview). Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Green Lane, as seen by Streetview in 2022. TF 0281 0824. A Mission Room shows immediately north of Hope Terrace on East Street on a map of 1886. It was still in use in 1899, but isn't labelled on a map of 1901, so may have gone out of use by then. It stood roughly where the further line of cars is in a Streetview from 2018. TF 0313 0739. The cemetery on Radcliffe Road and Little Casterton Road has a double Mortuary Chapel (2009 Streetview). Large scale maps show these to be Church of England (with spire) and Nonconformist (at the left). TF 0227 0761. There was another Mortuary Chapel, as part of the infirmary complex on Bourn Road, at TF 0374 0758. Shown on a map of 1905, it also says that the infirmary stands on the site of "White Friary". The chapel's site was seen by Streetview in 2017. White Friary Gate survives on a roundabout a little way to the S.W., at TF 0358 0745, and was seen by the Streetview van in 2021. Oddly, it seems not to be listed, but it is a scheduled monument. Its uninformative entry can be seen here. North Street Chapel (Baptist) was seen by Streetview in 2023. It stands on Chapel Yard, just off North Street at TF 0300 0736. It has a rather handsome date-stone which says it was re-built in 1900, and this source dates its predecessor on the same site to 1834 (some fabric of which survives). There used to be a Primitive Methodist Chapel on a site between Blackfriars Street and Wharf Road, at TF 0326 0705. Pre-dating a map of 1886, this source says it was an iron chapel, dating from 1878, and closed by 1913. The building on its site was seen by Streetview in 2022. St. George, on St. George's Square. Stamford Free Church (Baptist) on Kesteven Road was seen by Streetview in 2010. TF 0318 0821. Link. The history page dates it to 1886, replacement for a predecessor of 1803 which became the Sunday School, and which still survives somewhere behind the church, but it hasn't been seen by Streetview.
