Bethel Evangelical Church. © Gerard Charmley (2012).

Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Wilfrid. The impressive West End. SE 3145 7113. Both © Paul Brown. Alan Blacklock's side view is an impressive piece of image processing, joining as it does about 10 individual images. The long horizontal sweep from close range accounts for the central distortion. Another view, © David Regan (2010). This old postcard dates to no later than 1918 (it has a 1/2d. stamp - the postal rate increased to 1d. in June 1918). From Shayne van Rensburg's Collection. Old postcards from Christopher Skottowe's collection show misericords - 1, 2, 3, 4. Link. Grade I listed.

Chapel of the Hospital of St. Mary Magdalene (former leper hospital). Another view. Both © David Regan (2010). Link.

Chapel of St. Anne's Hospital (Almshouse). Note the altar still in situ. © David Regan (2010). Link.

The former Coltsgate Hill Chapel (Wesleyan, 1861), designed by James Simpson. It closed as a church in 1963, and is currently in use as architects offices. © Gerard Charmley (2012). A plaque gives a little history. © Steve Bulman (2015).

Holy Trinity. Two interior views - 1, 2. All © Gerard Charmley (2012). Link. Grade II listed - link.

Methodist Church, originally Primitive Methodist. © Gerard Charmley (2012).

St. John the Baptist on Bondgate - originally the chapel for St. John's Hospital. © David Regan (2011). Link1. Link2.

St. Mary at Studley Royal Park (the Park is also home to Fountains Abbey). © James Murray. Another view. © Bill Henderson.

St. Mary Magdalene (the town has two churches with this dedication - see also the hospital chapel above). Link.

St. Wilfrid (R.C.). Another view. Unusually, the tower is at the East end. Both © Gerard Charmley (2012). Interior view, © Mike Forbester.

Zion Evangelical Baptist Church. © Gerard Charmley (2012).

A building on St. Wilfrid's Road has a chapel-look about it, and it has a name-plaque of Chapel House. Can you advise if this was indeed a chapel, and if it was, what was its denomination? © Steve Bulman (2015).
