Budleigh Salterton, Devon

Budleigh Salterton on Wikipedia.

The Baptist Church (2022 Streetview) is on Little Knowle. Its date-stone, which calls it Ebenezer, is for 1844. A map of 1890 labels it as Ebenezer Chapel (General Baptist). SY 0582 8209. Link. Grade II listed.

A map of 1890 shows Rolle Chapel at SY 0642 8202. The history page on the St. Peter's website (for which see below) explains that it was a chapel of ease from All Saints (for which see East Budleigh on the Devon page), dedicated to the Holy Trinity, dating from 1812, and commonly referred to as the Rolle Chapel after the local family which funded it. Long demolished, its site now straddles East Terrace, and in a 2022 Streetview, most of the church would have been to the right of the road, stretching onto the gardens at left.

St. Peter (1893). SY 0626 8202. © Graeme Harvey. Link, and the history page. Grade II listed.

Temple Methodist Church on Fore Street. SY 0648 8193. © Graeme Harvey. Link. The history page says that this is the second church on the site, dating from 1904-5. Its predecessor was of 1812, as Wesleyan - there's an illustration of it.

The Church on The Green (evangelical), on Station Road, as seen by Streetview in 2022. A map of 1906 shows a Gospel Hall on the same site with the same footprint. SY 0615 8210. Link.
