Several O.S. maps show an otherwise unidentified Chapel set back from the northern end of Heron Street, at SK 0464 1800. Built no later than 1882, and still active at least to 1949, it has since been demolished. Its site was seen by Streetview in 2023 - it was attached to the left side of the large building.

Older O.S. maps show a Mission Church on Sandy Lane, at SK 0436 1783. It pre-dated a map of 1885 surveyed in 1882, and had gone by 1922. Its site now lies beneath the roundabout at the north end of Horse Fair. In a 2024 Streetview the chapel would have stood at the edge of the roundabout

The former Primitive Methodist Chapel (2023 Streetview) on Lion Street and Church Street is dated 1870. It was still in active use (presumably as Methodist) into the second half of the last century. SK 0415 1826. Link says it closed in 1955 - it also has an old photo of the chapel.

I don't know if the old building was replaced, or was on a different site. The present church is accessed from Burnthill Lane. SK 0425 1786. Link.
