The Central Methodist Church (1989), on Baker Street is the second church on the site, the previous one being Trinity Methodist (1872-3, source, with photo), which was successor to the Methodist Church on Annesley Road, for which see Methodist New Connexion (below). It was preceded by an earlier church (1887-1960) on Carlingford Road - also Holy Cross - which oddly isn't labelled as a place of worship on either the 1901 6" O.S. map, or the 25" of 1892-1914. An old photo of it is available here. SK 5338 4953. Another view. All © David Regan (2021). Kings Family Church on the north side of Derbyshire Lane. Circa SK 534 491. © David Regan (2021). Link. A Methodist New Connexion Chapel once stood on Annesley Road, the town's first nonconformist chapel. When David visited it was in the process of being demolished, following a fire. Some history here, where it's dated to the years after 1797. It can be seen on a 2008 Streetview, when it was a closed pub. © David Regan (2021). The former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel (1880-1) on Watnall Road is now in commercial use. SK 5355 4918. © David Regan (2021). It was preceded by an earlier chapel of 1846 on Chapel Street (source).
