Queen's Hall Methodist Mission on London Road. It was built as Wesleyan in 1861, on the site of London Road Wesleyan Chapel. Altered and re-named in 1927 as Queen's Hall Methodist Mission, the curved facade was added in 1965. Seriously damaged by a fire in 1991, it was re-built within the original framework. Added in 2018 - Richard Roberts advises that this is no longer a church, having been sold and re-named as Queens Hall Conferencing and Banqueting Suites. The former Railway Mission Room on Cotton Lane and Osmaston Road. Dating from circa 1900, it closed some time between the publication of the 1938-1947 edition O.S. map, and the 1949 edition, when it is shown as a school. The former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel (aka Marrowbones Chapel), dates from 1893, and closed in 1998. On St. Peter's Churchyard. SK 352 360. Two earlier chapels stood on the same site - an Independent of 1816, sold to the Wesleyan Methodists in 1921. It was re-built 1868-71, and again in 1893.
A source Mike consulted - Non-Conformist Chapels and Meeting Houses, Derbyshire (1986) - says that the nickname of Marrowbones Chapel arose because the original chapel on the site was built as a speculation by three butchers. SK 352 360. © Mike Berrell (2011).
