Though only built in 1825, the church became too small for the growing population and another church was built towards the end of the 19th century on a new site. SU 4650 1941. From an old postcard in Kevin Gordon's Collection. Some low walls survive, seemingly the base of the tower. © Chris Kippin (2023). A general view of the site, and an old photo of the interior are reproduced by kind permission of the Bishopstoke History Society. The new church of St. Mary (1890-1). SU 4675 1983. © Chris Kippin. Link1. Link2 which says that the old church had been demolished by 1908. Grade II listed. St. Paul on Fair Oak Road. SU 4774 1860. © Chris Kippin (2023). Link. A United Methodist Chapel shows on older maps on Stoke Common Road at SU 4719 2015. It has been demolished. The following are reproduced by kind permission of the Bishopstoke History Society - the chapel, its interior and date-stone, "Ebenezer Chapel Built 1848, Rebuilt 1929". A map of 1868 which can be seen here shows it as Bible Christian. Another U.M Church shows on a map of 1909 on Spring Lane at SU 4667 1924. Allen Guille has advised that it was originally Bible Christian dating from 1897, a tin tabernacle. This old postcard view is reproduced by kind permission of Bishopstoke History Society. A Working Men's Club and adjacent shop now stand on the site (2023 Streetview).
