Christ Church (Methodist and U.R.C.) on Bear Street was built as Bible Christian in 1876. Another view. SS 5599 3335. Both © Martin Richter (2011). Link - there is an interesting history page here. Grade II listed.

A Christian Brethren Chapel shows on the 25" O.S. map of 1890 on the east side of Grosvenor Street at SS 5624 3337. Probably the predecessor of Grosvenor Chapel (for which see below), its site, now a car park, was seen by Streetview in 2018.

Christian Science Church on Boutport Street, as seen by Streetview in 2018. SS 5587 3342.

The former Congregational/U.R.C. Chapel on Cross Street. It pre-dates a map of 1890 and seems to have gone out of use in the mid-20th century. SS 5575 3317. © Chris Kippin (2023). Grade II listed, wherein it's dated to 1870.

Old O.S. maps show Ebenezer Particular Baptist Chapel on Vicarage Street at SS 5595 3344. Built by 1890, it seems to have gone out of use before 1961. Demolished at some point, the buildings on the site today were seen by Streetview in 2018.

The 1890 O.S. map shows Emmanuel Church (Reformed Episcopal) on Summerland Street and Pulchrass Street at SS 5621 3297. Apparently still active in the late 1950's, it was later closed and demolished. The block of flats on the site today was seen by Streetview in 2015.

Grosvenor Church (Evangelical) on Eastern Avenue, as seen by Streetview in 2018. SS 5667 3273. Link.

Holy Trinity Church, on Trinity Place. According to its grade II* listing, the church dates from 1843-5, but only the tower survives from then, the rest being a re-build of 1867. Another view. SS 5621 3278. Both © Chris Kippin (2023). Link. Grade II* listed.

Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Derby Road, as seen by Streetview in 2014. SS 5690 3366.

Newport Methodist Church on Newport Road and Gloster Road. SS 5652 3238. © Chris Kippin (2023).

The cemetery on Bear Street has two Mortuary Chapels, that for the Church of England at SS 5665 3335, and Nonconformists at SS 5669 3336. Each has a grade II listing (CoE, Nonconformist), and both are dated to 1856. Both © Chris Kippin (2023).

St. John the Baptist on South Street, Newport. Another view. SS 5669 3217. Both © Chris Kippin (2023). Link.

St. Mary (R.C) on Summerland Street. SS 5613 3301. © Chris Emms (2011). Another view (less encumbered by vehicles), and its predecessor, which stands adjacent). This news item dates it to 1855 (by Pugin), and says it was closed in 1984. Its grade II listing says that it was "probably by Gideon Boyce of Tiverton" - but see the note at the end of the listing. Both © Chris Kippin (2023). Link.

St. Mary the Virgin at Pilton. SS 5565 3415. From an old postcard in Steve Bulman's Collection. A modern view, © Graeme Harvey (2011). Link. Grade I listed. For other listed features associated with the church, see here.

St. Peter and St. Mary Magdalene. On a very cramped site, it is difficult to photograph well. On a map of 1890 it's labelled as St. Peter and St. Paul. SS 5584 3322. © Chris Emms (2011). Another view, an interior view, the Lady Chapel, the bells (which hang on the outside of the lead-covered spire), and St. Anne's Chantry Chapel, which stands in the churchyard, all © Graeme Harvey (2011). Another view, © John Balaam (2016). Link. Grade II* listed.

Spiritualist Church, Higher Church Street. SS 5612 3296. © Chris Kippin (2023). Link.

Older O.S. maps show a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on Boutport Street at SS 5588 3344. Pre-dating a map of 1890, it survived at least until the mid-20th century, and the building on its site today was seen by Streetview in 2018. An illustration can be seen here, where it says it was active by 1873.

Whiddon Valley Evangelical Church (2018 Streetview) on Whiddon Drive. SS 5775 3249. Link. The history page dates it to 1987, successor to Rackfield Evangelical Mission at Rackfield, off Boutport Street. I haven't been able to discover its location.
